God shares His prescription for taking His Word as medicine

My son, give attention to my words; Incline your ear to my sayings. Do not let them depart from your sight; Keep them in the midst of your heart. For they are life to those who find them, And health to all their body. (Prov. 4:20-22)

Hebrew meanings are inserted below

  1. My son - God's power flows from our relationship with Him - relationships involve hearing, seeing, feeling.
  2. Give attention to my words - Focus with undivided attention.
  3. Incline your ear to my sayings - Listen humbly with both outer ears and ears of your heart (flowing thoughts).
  4. Do not let them depart from your sight - See God’s promises to you as fulfilled, as Abraham did when he saw millions of stars representing the millions of descendants he would have. The word “sight” is also translated as spring and fountain, so gazing upon this vision from God of the promise already fulfilled releases God's spring which flows forth as a fountain of life within you.
  5. Keep them in the midst of your heart - The word "keep" literally means to guard with a hedge of thorns (so no fear or doubt can get in).
  6. For they are life to those who find them and health to all their body - The result is God's words and visions have become "health," literally a medicine or a cure.
