Does a quiet spirit mean I need to be quiet? Journaling by Linda Garmon
1 Peter 3:3,4 - "Your adornment must not be merely the external—braiding the hair, wearing gold jewelry, or putting on apparel; But it should be the hidden person of the heart, with the imperishable quality of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is precious in the sight of God."
Linda - Lord, I have to admit this verse bumped me sideways a little bit, and then I realized that I might not be reading and understanding it correctly. I always assumed that I didn’t fit in this category, especially the quiet part, though I am practicing. Lord, I want You to correct me and my thoughts about this verse.
Jesus - Beloved one, you are precious in My sight. Don’t you dare ever think otherwise! I made you like you are by design.
These verses are a reminder that it’s not what you see on the outside that should be valued, because the outer man is temporal. Be a good steward with this temporal body so that you fulfill all your days, but there is something better waiting that is eternal. The things that we share in the secret place are what is valuable and it is My desire that all that you see, hear, feel, and experience in our times together mark you for life.
The humble spirit is the one who realizes that their source of strength is not within themselves, but in their union with Me. Beloved, this same one will have a quiet/undisturbed spirit regardless of outward circumstances. They will have unexplainable joy right in the middle of trials that would destroy others. How do you think Paul and Silas could still sing while in jail and after being beaten? Look at the influence this had on those around them. Can you see why I say that this is extremely valuable? Beloved, there is a lost world looking for evidence of My love, My joy, My power. Beloved, I am not asking you to be quiet. I am asking that you lean into Me as your source for all your life and let this be obvious in your words, attitudes, and actions.
This lifestyle IS very precious, extremely valuable, and costly in My sight.
Linda - Thank You, Lord...I love You.
