So we have the prophetic word made more sure, to which you do well to pay attention as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star arises in your hearts. (2 Pet. 1:19)
The road less traveled?
Have we chosen to take the road less traveled? Perhaps, yet maybe it is the road most people wish they could travel if they only knew how. They are just waiting for someone to show them the way. It is the path of illumination. God's "lamp," the Holy Spirit, grants light and revelation. The LORD'S loving kindnesses and compassions are new every morning (Lam. 3:22,23).
I hungered for this highway until age 25. God finally granted the desire of my heart by teaching me how to hear His voice. His voice is the voice of His Spirit, bubbling up within, constantly, easily, daily. All I had to do was acknowledge that His River flowed within. I needed to take Him seriously at His word that this river was present and it was His Holy Spirit that flowed from His throne and brought life to everything it touched (Rev. 22:1,2).
It sure brought life to me and the things I touched: my marriage, my ministry, my health. He was giving wonderful counsel continuously. Creativity flowed. Love flowed. Healing flowed. You name it. Everything He is was flowing through His River. All I needed to do was acknowledge Him, the Holy Spirit joined to me, deep within (Jn. 7:37-39; 1 Cor. 6:17,19).
So how many are hungering for this highway which gets brighter the further you travel?
What groups of people are searching for light to fill their hearts? Many I assume: those on drugs, those addicted to sex, those seeking meaning in the New Age, Pentecostals, Charismatics, evangelicals, fundamentalists, liberals, Catholics and those in other religions. The list is endless. I suspect most people want this joy and peace which is part of the Kingdom (Rom. 14:17). They just don't know how to get it. Can we make it simple enough for them to find this path? Will that release a worldwide revival? I suspect it could. So what are the four keys to hearing His voice that God taught me at age 25, which allowed me to walk by the Spirit and experience the full freedom and joy of the Kingdom?
The four keys to hearing God's voice through the Holy Spirit - simply stated
- Quiet my own thoughts
- See Jesus, Immanuel, God with me, at my right hand
- Tune to His voice and vision which is experienced as flowing thoughts and pictures
- Write in faith, the flow I am experiencing
Afterward we compare what we have written to Scripture, making sure it lines up with the Bible. We also submit it to our spiritual advisors asking if their hearts confirm it.
That’s simple. That's childlike. That's living by the Spirit. I found His voice was not accusative. He was not narrow-minded or judgmental. He came alongside rather than against. He was loving and kind. When I said "Yes, Lord" to what He was saying, I was transformed.
When will I receive full enlightenment? I assume in heaven. I plan on changing and growing til the day I die. It is so much fun to see more clearly down the road I am traveling. I offer this clarity to you as you learn to hear and obey His voice.
My Journaling
Lord, what would You speak to me?
Mark, you are right. It is a path, a highway in the wilderness which I have prepared for those who walk in righteousness. You are also right that it is only by the Spirit that this walk is possible. You are also right that these four keys I have taught you are essential tools for many in the world today to learn and apply so they may experience My life in the Spirit.
Yes, I have changed your heart from that of an accuser to one who comes alongside, even as My Spirit does. This has transformed your character and enlarged your ministry. No one wants to experience the voice of the accuser. That is the enemy's voice. They want to hear the voice of the Comforter, and together we have taught them how. It IS easy. As we now declare: stillness, vision, spontaneity, journaling. Four words can set humanity free from relying on self, and they discover a path to the Spirit within them. Thank you for sharing this path with My world. I will see that many find it and use it and are transformed by it. Well done, My good and faithful servant.
Thank You, Lord!
Your Journaling
- Lord, what would You like to speak to me concerning using these four keys to hearing Your voice and receiving Your wonderful counsel daily?
- Lord, do You think that when I receive new revelation, new light, new insights that are outside the box of my group, that means I have stepped into heresy? Or is this what the highway of holiness is all about, increasing light and revelation?
