I had been working on a new song for a week or so, and the words were just not coming easy. I asked the Lord for his help. I loved the melody and the few words that I had, but I was stuck. I felt in my spirit that God said, “go get your journal.” For some reason, I didn’t do it.
The next morning, I went back to my prayer closet, and asked for the Lord’s help again. Once more, he said “go get your journal.” I knew the one he was talking about, but I wasn’t sure where it was, as it had been a while since I used it last. I found it under a stack of books in my bedroom, opened it up to a random page, and began to read. The words in that particular entry were the perfect words for that song that I had been working on. I began to cry, because they were the words of my heart.
I began to think of how long it had been since I had written in that two-way journal, so I looked at the date of the entry. The date read April 7th, 2016. Out of curiosity I picked up my phone to see what day it was. The date was April 7th, 2017. So, the Lord and I began writing a song a year before he and I finished it.
