SONATA RECALL

By Elizabeth A. Nixon, Esq.

Over the past several years, I have become increasingly aware of things that occur in the natural realm that reflect what is going on in the spirit, which is why the recent recall issued by the car company, Hyundai, caught my attention.

The recall was for over 130,000 of the 2011 model Sonatas, and specifically because of a defect that can cause drivers to lose control of the vehicle.

I have studied Biblical dreams and parables as a way of learning to understand how God speaks in metaphors.  The Old Testament shows how God spoke in metaphor through prophetic dreams and visions.  The New Testament shows how Jesus used metaphor and parables to teach spiritual principles.  As is relevant to us today, Christ encouraged us to be able to read  “the signs of the times” (Matthew 16:3).

With an eye toward seeing and understanding the signs of the times, this particular recall intrigued me for a couple of reasons:

First, the recall is for the car “Sonata.”  I may have been more inclined to see this because my book, Decrees Inspired by the Psalms has only recently been released, and both the word “Sonata” and “Psalm” are different words for “a song.”

The beautiful aspect of the word “sonata” is that it means:  a musical composition, which in both form and order, can be exceptional!

In dream interpretation, a car or vehicle is typically symbolic for a person’s destiny or calling. Applying this particular car, the Sonata, to the interpretation, I believe the message is that there are destinies that have both the form and order able to produce exceptional life results.

Second, the specifics of this recall are important.  (1) it is for 2011 models and (2) its due to a steering defect.  Let’s talk about each of these:

(1)    2011:  We have just entered the Jewish New Year, so for Christians who follow the Jewish calendar, we are already in the New Year.  Also, this is the time of year when the Lord often gives us a “heads up” direction for the coming year.  With 2011 basically around the corner – I believe this is a message for us specifically about what to be aware of in 2011.

(2)    A steering defect:  You don’t have to be a rocket scientist or accomplished dream interpreter to figure out this one.  Hyundai’s specific recall used the language:  “The 2011 Sonata is being recalled due to a defect that can cause drivers to lose steering control.”  Applying that metaphorically to our destiny, to our calling, and specifically as it plays out in 2011, I am encouraging you to be alert for those things that could “cause you to lose steering control” or in other words, those things that would get you off course, off track, or lose direction.  There have been many great words about 2011 being a year of harvest, a time of reaping all that has been sown, a time where we begin to walk out the realization of our dreams.  I believe all these words are right on.  The head’s up message from the 2011 Sonata recall is to not allow circumstances along the way to cause you to lose your true direction.

As I was meditating on this, I thought about the Decree I wrote, inspired by Psalm 119, it’s titled “Life - God’s Way” and it specifically uses the metaphor of being on the right road, headed and steering in the right direction.

The power of using Decrees based on Scripture is that you know you are decreeing and declaring God’s plans and purposes.  This Psalm, #119, is traditionally accredited to David, who as we know had a “heart after God’s own heart,” so we can speak with confidence that we are decreeing “after God’s own heart.”

As we head into 2011, let’s decree together that we are steering a straight course, according to all that God has planned and purposed for us, and that we stay on the pathway He has called us to, the road He has destined for us.

Here is the Decree Inspired by Psalms 119:  Life – God’s Way:

Life – God’s Way

Decree Inspired by Psalm 119:32-40

I live my life the way God suggests and I see it suddenly expanding!

My future stretches out before me like the perfect countryside-

It’s all pastureland, green fields and gently flowing rivers.

The journey my life-course is set on is the roadway to His Kingdom

I know that staying on this path only leads to one place:

Peace with God, Peace of mind and a clear conscience.

I chose this road for a reason and I am determined to stay on it.

It’s an ancient path, a steady and well-traveled way

That has never failed those who walk along its course.

I’ve come to love this pathway.

I feel life vibrating within me when I stay right in the middle

It’s like being gently shaken on a sifter – all the harshness of myself

Separates away while all that is pure and fine collects together.

When the path turns, I follow.  When it continues straight, so do I.

Because of this my heart remains naturally inclined to obey God

Instinctively, I avoid and shy away from dishonest gain.

I look away from things that only appeal to my vanity and ego

There is life and breath and freshness in all of God’s ways

And I embrace them with joy and committed passion.

God has set up traffic detours for everything that would derail me,

Long before I even get there, shame and disgrace are channeled far away.

This journey of life that I walk each day is good.

As we look to the New Year, let us agree together that 2011 will find us on track and living out a Kingdom destiny that is, in both form and order, exceptional!
